Free Market Films was a production company on Seventh Avenue in New York, “specializing in short films for advertisers,” with three directors: Edouard Nammour, Clay Staub and Martin Hodara. In July 2003 Graham began its website, posting each round of comps to a client area of his own: several directions at first, then the one the site kept, the name in white over deep red rings.
The finished site opens on a Flash front page, its rings drifting behind the name. Each director has a page with a short bio in a Flash scroller and a grid of stills from his commercials, for Olay, Campbell’s, Kodak, Tide, Michelin, the Disney Channel and others; each still opens the spot, and a button plays the whole reel. The contact page lists the executive producer and the company’s reps on the East Coast, in the Midwest and on the West Coast.
That November the company asked for the menu to curve along the rings, its own fonts on every page, and a client access area in place of a projects page, which the site keeps behind a sign-in. In February 2004 Graham made a guide for the titles of new spots.
