GE Garages was GE’s program for makers: a tour of workshops, lectures and demos, with partners who shared their know-how. At Sub Rosa in New York, Graham worked on the user experience of its website, GEGarages.com, planned in the wireframes as a hub that connects makers with the partners and their knowledge, a bridge to GE’s Open Innovation and the primary source for detailed tour information.
The second round of wireframes, presented on January 31, 2014, covers the whole responsive site, from a 1024 px desktop down to a 320 px phone. A global header, in English or Simplified Chinese, lists the sections in the order a visitor would ideally browse them. Then come the homepage, an overview of the program, the global tour and a page for each city, with the day’s workshops, lectures and demos, a gallery of projects to make, from a weather clock to a hacked fridge, each with its materials and step-by-step instructions, and Open Innovation, with its challenges and hackathons.
