From 2010 to 2013 Graham was creative director and UX designer at Madzik, a creative agency in New York. In its own words it was a boutique of designers, developers, filmmakers, photographers, comedians and composers, and its client list ran from Heineken Light, Quintiles and Kaltura to Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City and the startup faQuery. Graham designed the agency’s own identity, a wordmark in a worn typewriter face that ends in a full stop, and its website.
The first comps, in September 2011, were built around film: a video player on the homepage, project pages and a page for the directors whose work the agency showed, among them Gimlet and RFHX. The finished site, that November, put the interactive work first. Each project opens on a title card, its homepage tilted in perspective, with a carousel of its pages below and a button to launch the live site. It showed Magnet Theater, Beton Builders (the public site, the client site and the content system behind them) and PIPS.
The About page opened with the line “Dreamers Wanted.” and listed the agency’s services, from strategy and branding to front-end development, film production and sound design.
